'Ineng' may exit PAR in the next few hours; 'slightly' enhances 'habagat'
Tropical depression Ineng will likely leave the country’s area of responsibility on Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning, Sept. 5 or 6, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In its 11 a.m. bulletin on Tuesday, PAGASA said Ineng continues to move slowly westward, and was last located 975 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon.
It has maintained its maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 55 kph.
Although Ineng may remain far from the country’s landmass, PAGASA said it will help to strengthen the southwest monsoon, which is currently being enhanced by tropical storm Haikui (formerly “Goring”).
On Tuesday, heavy to intense rains are expected in Zambales and Bataan, while moderate to heavy rains are expected in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, and Benguet.
Meanwhile, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, and Zambales may experience moderate to heavy rains by Wednesday, while Ilocos Norte, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands may experience moderate to heavy rains by Thursday, Sept. 7.
Weather conditions in other areas that have been affected by monsoon rains may gradually improve during the forecast period.
