VP Duterte marks National Teachers' Month; plants trees in Bohol

Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte on Tuesday, Sept. 5, joined the tree-planting activity for the celebration of National Teachers' Month.

The official shared photos, which saw her crouching to plant some trees, of the event on Facebook.
Also seen in the photos was presidential sister Senator Imee Marcos.
“Ang pagtatanim ng mga puno ay magsisilbing paalala sa kontribusyon ng mga guro sa buhay ng bawat mag-aaral at sa kaunlaran ng bansa (Planting trees will serve as a reminder of the contribution of teachers in the lives of every student and for the country’s progress),” she wrote.
The tree-planting activity happened at the Taloto Elementary School in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
According to the Vice President, who is also the country’s education chief in a concurrent capacity, her office supports the obsrvance of National Teachers’ Month.
Aside from Marcos, also with Duterte were representatives of the Metrobank Foundation and other partners of the Department of Education (DepEd).
The website of the Metrobank Foundation said that the National Teachers’ Month is a movement led by the DepEd, the Metrobank foundation, and various multi-sectoral groups.
Running from Sept. 5 to Oct. 5 since 2011, it recognizes Filipino teachers and educators and their contribution in shaping the country’s future.
