The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday, Sept. 4, reported that there were 780 new Covid-19 cases in the country.

Citing data from Aug. 28 to Sept. 3, DOH records showed that the daily average of Covid-19 cases in the country is now 111.
This, DOH said, is three percent lower compared to the previous week or from Aug. 21 to 27.
DOH said that out of the newly reported Covid-19 cases, 10 patients were in “severe or critical condition.”
Meanwhile, DOH noted that there were five deaths “verified during the past week.” Of this, three deaths occurred in August and two in July.
However, DOH said that there were no recorded deaths from Aug. 21 to 27.
Hospital admissions, bed occupancy
DOH records also showed that on Sept. 3, there were 291 severe and critical patients admitted to hospitals due to Covid-19.
DOH said 166, or 10.8 percent, of the 1,542 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds allocated for Covid-19 patients were occupied, while 1,982, or 13.9 percent, of the 14,307 non-ICU COVID-19 beds were also in use.
Vaccination status
DOH said more than 78 million individuals, which represents 100.44 percent of the target population, have been vaccinated against Covid-19.
Meanwhile, DOH said 23 million individuals have received their booster shots for Covid-19.
Moreover, DOH recorded 7.1 million senior citizens, or 82.16 percent of the target A2 population (Senior Citizens) have received their primary series.
For additional protection against the threat of Covid-19, DOH enjoined all eligible to “get vaccinated and get your booster as soon as possible.”
Due to the ongoing migration of the Vaccine Information Management System (VIMS) by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), DOH stated that it would not be able to generate updated vaccine accomplishment data until the “migration is complete."
Despite this, DOH assured the public that any data submitted or edited through the VIMS application will still be accepted and duly processed.
Public health reminders
DOH once again emphasized the necessity of remaining vigilant against the ongoing threat of Covid-19.
The public was strongly encouraged to maintain strict adherence to minimum public health standards, especially those under Alert Level 1.
Aside from wearing the best-fitted face masks and staying in well-ventilated areas whenever feasible, DOH reminded those who experience symptoms to “isolate immediately.“ (Zekinah Elize Espina)
