Parañaque, Pasay LGUs suspend classes due to inclement weather
The cities of Parañaque and Pasay announced the suspension of classes in all levels in public and private schools on Monday morning, Sept. 4.
Mayor Eric Olivarez ordered the suspension of classes based on the recommendation of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).
Olivarez said the DRRMO made the recommendation due to the continuous southwest monsoon rains enhanced by Typhoon Hanna.
He told residents, particularly those living in low-lying areas, to immediate call the city government in case of emergencies through its hotline numbers. (For landline: 8820-PQUE (7783), for Smart : 0961-096-6341 and for Globe users at 0956-394-0176.)
The mayor advised all residents to just stay home for their safety.
In Pasay City, Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano also suspended online and face-to-face classes in all levels both in public and private schools.
Rubiano told residents living in flood prone areas to stay alert and prepare for possible evacuation.
