Parañaque LGU to monitor sellers' compliance to rice price cap
The Parañaque Consumer Welfare Office and Economic Enterprise Management Division will conduct monitoring and inspection activities starting Tuesday, Sept. 5, to ensure sellers' compliance to the new rice price ceiling policy.
Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez said the monitoring will be conducted to oversee the implementation of Executive Order No. 39 or “Imposition of Mandated Price Ceiling on Rice," approved by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
The President issued EO No. 5 in response to the increase of rice prices in the country.
Olivarez said, under the EO, a price limit will be set wherein regular-milled rice will only cost P41.00 per kilo while well-milled rice will cost P45.00 per kilo.
He said the President also asked the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Department of Agriculture (DA) to strictly implement the EO through monitoring and inspection of markets.
