PAGASA issues flood warning for Pasig-Marikina, Tullahan river basins

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued on Monday, Sept. 4, a fifth flood advisory for the Pasig-Marikina and Tullahan river basins due to heavy monsoon rains triggered by typhoon Hanna (international name: Haikui).
PAGASA issued its first flood warning on Aug. 31 at 8 a.m.
The fifth advisory was issued at 8 a.m. on Monday as light to moderate rains are expected to continue over these river basins in the next 24 hours.
A flood warning was raised over Pasig, Marikina, and Tullahan rivers and their tributaries Upper Marikina River—Rodriguez, Antipolo, and San Mateo in Rizal, Quezon City, and Marikina City; Lower Marikina River—Pasig City and Mandaluyong City; Pasig River—Pasig City, Makati City, Mandaluyong City, and Manila City; Tullahan River—Quezon City, Caloocan City, Malabon City, Navotas City, and Valenzuela City; Mango River—Rodriguez, Rizal; Nangka River—Marikina City, and San Mateo and Antipolo in Rizal; and San Juan River—Quezon City, San Juan, and Manila City.
“People living near the mountain slopes and in the low-lying areas of the abovementioned cities and local disaster risk reduction and management councils concerned are advised to take necessary precautionary measures,” PAGASA said.
“Local flooding is possible in some areas due to poor drainage systems and impounding water,” it added.
