Marikina LGU receives 5,000 relief packs from PAGCOR
The Marikina City local government received 5,000 relief packs from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) on Saturday, Sept. 2.

Marikina City Administrator Janet Obispo accepted the relief packs which will be given to families residing in the city's low-lying and flood-prone areas.
The 3,000 food packs contain rice, canned goods, coffee, and chocolate drinks.
Meanwhile, blankets, mosquito nets, bath towels, slippers, and hygiene kits are included in the 2,000 non-food packs.

According to PAGCOR Chairman Alejandro Tengco, the items were readily prepared and turned over to the Marikina local government to respond to the effects of the southwest monsoon (habagat) rains enhanced by both Typhoons Goring and Hanna.
The recent enhanced 'habagat' rains experienced in the National Capital Region (NCR) have triggered the sounding of the first alarm at the Marikina River as the water level reached and exceeded 15 meters.
However, no major flooding was reported in the city.
The city's Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) continues to monitor the river, weather, and flood-prone areas in Marikina.
