TACLOBAN CITY – Police have launched a manhunt operation against a member of a gun-for-hire group in Samar who evaded arrest on August 31.
Police Col. Peter Limbauan, Samar police director, identified the suspect as alias "Valentino," a newly identified member of the Wahingon Group, a sub-group of the Managaysay Group gun-for-hire operating in Calbayog City and adjacent municipalities.
Limbauan said that Valentino eluded arrest by running towards a forested area in the back of his house in Barangay Salvacion, Calbayog City when police arrived to serve a warrant of arrest.
Police did not go empty-handed as they discovered a cache of firearms and ammunition in his house.
The suspect has a warrant of arrest for attempted murder dated July 21, 2021. He is also wanted for murder, homicide, and other high-profile crimes.
Police Lt. Col. Joy Leanza, Calbayog police chief, said that they have deployed tracker teams to go after Valentino.
