Las Piñas LGU suspends classes in public, private schools

Las Piñas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar ordered the immediate suspension of classes in all levels in both public and private schools on Monday, Sept. 4.

Aguilar made the announcement after the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued a yellow rainfall warning in Metro Manila at 8:00 a.m.

Heavy rains are expected within the next three hours, according to PAGASA.

Aguilar said the city's Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) is already on standby and ready to respond to any emergency.

The city government asked residents to closely monitor announcements from PAGASA and the city's social media accounts for up-to-date information.

Aguilar also told residents, especially those living in flood-prone and landslide-prone areas, to stay alert and be prepared for possible flooding and landslides.

She advised residents to heed evacuation orders and stay updated on weather advisories
