Iloilo City university opens new learning center, library

ILOILO CITY – The University of San Agustin (USA) in this city formally opened a new learning center and library recently.

USA President Fr. Frederick C. Comendador led the blessing and opening of the Fray Luis de Leon Learning Commons (FLLC) and the Atty. Henry T. Villegas Law Library.

THE Fray Luis de Leon Learning Commons (FLLC) is an extension facility of the library of the University of San Agustin (USA) in Iloilo City. (Tara Yap)

The FLLC is an extension facility of the university’s library that multimedia resources, e-books, and online databases for students and faculty.

Rhea Espina, FLLC resource director, said “library users from various disciplines can come together, exchange ideas, and engage in collaborative projects.”

The refurbished library was named after Atty. Henry T. Villegas Law Library, a distinguished alumnus.

Lawyer Jose Mari Benjamin Tirol, dean of the USA College of Law, thanked the Villegas family led by Atty. Jan Freeman Villegas, Henry's son, for the financial resources and donating law books for the library.

Also at the inauguration was USA Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Regina Aileen May Vergara.
