Father, daughter nabbed in Silay City buy-bust

BACOLOD CITY – Police arrested a father and his daughter in a buy-bust operation in Sitio Dacutan Diotay, Barangay Guinhalaran, Silay City, Negros Occidental on Thursday, September 27.

Police identified the suspect as Elizabeth Bermejo, 31, a street-level individual. She allegedly yielded 14 grams of suspected shabu worth P95,200.

Police Major Rhea Sarah Villanueva, officer-in-charge of the Silay City Police Station, said they received information about the suspect's activities from the community, prompting them to conduct monitoring and launch the operation against Bermejo.

Her father, Apolinario, 72, was arrested for obstruction of justice.

Villanueva said Apolinario interfered during the operation which caused a delay in the arrest of his daughter.

He said the father tried to stop the police from arresting his daughter and he was reportedly forcing his way in to the suspect's house.

Police decided to handcuff him to prevent the situation from getting worse, she added.

The father calmed down until his daughter was brought to the police station, Villanueva said.
