Senior citizen hurt after 8 houses collapse in Valenzuela
A 64-year-old man was reportedly hurt after eight houses on S. Feliciano St., Barangay Mapulang Lupa, Valenzuela City suddenly collapsed on Sunday, Sept. 3.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) identified the victim as Reynaldo Mayara, who sustained abrasions in his head, left leg, and arm, and pain in the left side of his pelvis after the collapsed.

The local government said the incident was due to the erosion of soil in the area caused by heavy rainfall.
"Through the rapid visual assessment and analysis of the Office of the Building Official, the saturated soil in the area due to the continuous heavy rainfall these past days led to earth and water pressure that caused the structural collapse," the city government said.
A total of 17 families or 67 individuals living near the area were evacuated to the old Barangay Mapulang Lupa Hall for their safety, as of 3:30 p.m.
Ten families also took temporary shelter at the old Barangay Ugong Hall.
The incident is still under investigation.
