Nadine Lustre working with Mikhail Red on Nokturno:'Hindi na ako nagdalawang isip'

Fresh from her second win at the FAMAS Awards as best actress for the movie "Greed," Nadine Lustre stars in another Mikhail Red film entitled "Nokturno."

Nadine and Mikhail have been one of the dynamic duos on the horror scene after bagging the award for Best Director and Picture for the film "Deleter" at the 2022 Metro Manila Film Festival.

During a story conference at Botejyu, Estancia Mall in Pasig City last Aug. 30, Nadine shared that she was open to accepting the role in the upcoming horror flick.

"Actually hindi na po ako nagdalawang isip, kasi what I've mentioned before, this is the kind of project I've wanted to do, and I'm a huge horror fan. I like watching horror films. And of course, si Direk Mik naman yun and I really love working with his whole team, so I said yes right away," Nadine said.

She also mentioned that she was a bit pressure this time since her film, "Deleter," received a lot of positive feedback from the audience.

"I am very excited, but there's a bit pressure, because si direk mik ulit katrabaho ko and last year deleter did so well, kaya everytime someone approaches me and alam nila na may project ulit kaming dalawa, they are very excited to see Nokturno," Nadine added.

"Nokturno" revolves around a curse brought on by the kumakatok. Tall, thin, and with long, pale fingers, these creatures from Filipino folklore wear veils that obscure their faces and come knocking in the dead of the night. Those who answer the door are cursed to die or lose a loved one in three days.

Nadine plays the role of Jamie, an overseas worker in Dubai. She has distanced herself from her hometown island of San Sebastian because of a traumatic past and her mother's mental instability.

But rumors of a mysterious curse plaguing San Sebastian and her sister Joanna falling to the curse compel her to come home. She knows that her younger brother needs her and there are questions that need to be answered.

Joining her in the film is Bea Binene, who plays the role of Joanna, sister of Jamie. She's become indifferent to their mother Lilet and can't wait to leave their small, conservative town. She and her boyfriend Manu have planned their escape, but are accursed by the Kumakatok before they are able to leave the island.

Gawad Urian Best Actress Eula Valdez plays Lilet. Devastated by the loss of her husband, she believes that a curse is haunting her family and is certain that the Kumakatok entities are responsible.  Though at odds, Lilet and Jamie soon learn that only through working together can they overcome the fatal curse.

Aside from the three ladies, it also shows JJ Quilantang, the boy who plays Julius, Jamie's 13-year-old brother. Having witnessed the disintegration of his family, he deals with his trauma by withdrawing into his peculiar hobby of insect collecting. Julius acts more mature than his age.

Completing the cast are Wilbert Ross as Manu, Joanna's boyfriend, who's on the brink of insanity after witnessing her death, and Ku Aquino as Tito Jun, Lilet's brother and the barangay captain. Caring and protective, he withholds crucial information to keep Jamie from harm.

Produced by Evolve Studios and Viva Films, "Nokturno" is scheduled for release this year.
