- DepEd will lead the 2023 National Teachers' Month and World Teachers' Day kick-off program on Sept. 5 in the City of Tagbilaran, Bohol.
In line with its efforts to recognize the significant role of teachers in educating Filipino children, the Department of Education (DepEd) will once again lead the kick-off of this year’s National Teachers’ Month (NTM) and World Teachers’ Day (WTD) celebrations.

In an advisory issued on Sunday, Sept. 3, DepEd said the NTM / WTD kick-off program will be held on Sept. 5 at the Bohol Wisdom School in Tagbilaran City.
For this year, the theme of the NTM/WTD kick-off celebration is "Together4Teachers."
DepEd, in a Facebook post, said this year’s theme aims to celebrate the excellence and greatness of Filipino teachers who are its partners in building a patriotic and child-friendly nation.
The month-long NTM celebration, which starts from Sept. 5, will culminate on Oct. 5 which is the WTD and also the National Teachers’ Day (NTD).

These celebrations are under Presidential Proclamation No. 242 series of 2011 titled Declaring the Period from September 5 to October 5 of Every Year as National Teachers’ Month; Republic Act No. 10743 titled An Act Declaring the Fifth Day of October of Every Year as a National Teachers’ Day and its Implementing Rules And Regulations (IRR) and the designation of the World Teachers’ Day every 5th of October by the United Nations Education and Cultural Organizations (UNESCO).
Aside from honoring those who are in the teaching profession, the NTM/WTD/NTD celebrations also aim to “acknowledge and give emphasis on the crucial role, loyal service and dedicated commitment of teachers in developing globally-minded citizens, nurturing families, strengthening communities, and building the nation.”
In previous years, the celebrations also aimed to “revitalize the image and respect for teaching as a vocation by increasing public awareness of the value of teachers in Philippine society.”
The NTM/WTD/NTD celebrations, DepEd said, also serve as “an opportunity in building the image of teaching as an attractive and fulfilling profession” and would “generate widespread support and assistance for teachers.”
