More than 600 pregnant women in Marikina City joined the new batch of participants for the "Buntis Congress," on Saturday, Sept. 2 at the Marikina Hotel Convention Hall.
The event was primarily organized by the Office of District 1 Representative Marjorie Ann "Maan" Teodoro, in cooperation with the city government through the city's Gender and Development (GAD) Office.

Rep. Teodoro and her husband, Marikina Mayor Marcelino "Marcy" Teodoro, graced the program to extend their support to the mothers, and distribute the health packs.
The program sought to give educational and medical services to pregnant women and mothers in the city.
In a series of brief lectures, participants were educated on the importance of healthcare and childcare during and after pregnancy, reproductive health, family planning, prenatal care, vaccinations, and other essential information to help them have healthy and safe pregnancies.

Preliminary medical check ups for the mothers were given by nurses and doctors to each participant.
Free ultrasound services were also being received by the attendees.
Moreover, they were provided with new born screenings and pediatric check-up services for their soon-to-be-born babies.
In addition, each attendee in the program received special maternity packs, courtesy of Rep. Teodoro's office, containing sanitary items, maternity pads, two sets of newborn baby clothes, and baby-friendly mats and towels.
The Marikina local government holds the "Buntis Congress" annually in order to continue addressing their concerns and medical needs.
The program is conducted atleast three to five times a year to continue assisting mothers and pregnant women in their nine-month pregnancy journeys.
