PWD, wife fall in Silay City buy-bust

BACOLOD CITY – Police arrested a couple in a buy-bust operation in Hacienda Cumabat 1, Barangay E. Lopez, Silay City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, September 27.

Police identified the suspects as Ronel Baron, 31, a Person with Disability (PWD), and his wife Melisa, 39.

Police Major Rhea Sarah Villanueva, officer-in-charge of the Silay City Police Station, said the couple yielded nine grams of suspected shabu worth P61,200.

Police said the couple is considered street-level individuals.

Villanueva said that Baron was allegedly engaged in the illegal drugs trade even before he was bedridden due to a motorcycle accident.

She said the couple would reportedly transact with their customers at home due to Baron’s situation.

Villanueva said that they have allotted a custodial facility for the couple and Baron is being checked by rescuers from time to time to monitor his medical condition.
