Pasay City police hold dialogue, peace covenant signing with BSKE aspirants

The Pasay City police conducted a dialogue and signing of a peace covenant among the candidates in the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Election (BSKE) in the city to ensure the peace and orderly conduct of the elections on October 30.

Pasay City police chief Col. Froilan Uy said the dialogue and signing of peace covenant was held at the Masjid Al-Nur located at Park Avenue Extension on Sept. 27, and was attended by candidates to the BSKE and members of the Muslim community in Barangays 77, 78, and 79.

Also present were Barangay chairpersons Dexter Mangorangca of Barangay 179, Noel Javelosa of Barangay 77, Muslim leaders, Engr. Macapagal Hadji Nasser, Imam Ahmad Camama, Kamal Singh of Foreign Keepers Network (FNKN), and representatives from the Barangay Peace-Keeping Action Team (BPAT), Salaam Volunteers, and Muslim Vendors Association.

The city police chief said the signing of the peace covenant affirmed the commitment of the Muslim community, religious leaders, community leaders and candidates to ensure the safe, accurate, free, and fair BSKE.

Uy said Community Affairs Section personnel distributed materials on vote buying and vote selling to raise awareness among voters on its legal consequences.

He said it will also empower citizens to resist offers of vote buying or selling, thus promoting a sense of civic duty and responsibility.
