MTRCB Chair Lala Sotto: 'I’m not going to satisfy the whims of my detractors'

Movie and Television Review Classification Board (MTRCB) chairperson Lala Sotto is standing her ground amid controversy surrounding the 12-day suspension of "It's Showtime."

During a press briefing, Lala addressed accusation of "conflict of interest" regarding her position.

Note that Lala is the daughter of Helen Gamboa and Tito Sotto.

The latter is one of the main hosts of "It's Showtime's" rival show, "E.A.T." on TV5.

Lala emphasized, "I truly believe my being a Sotto or being my father’s daughter should not be taken against me. Instead, it should even be taken positively that I am someone who grew up in the industry, I am someone who loves the industry, and understands the industry."

She added, "I really believe that we should respect other’s opinions also, that’s their opinion, there’s nothing I can do."

Lala then declared, "I’m just doing my job humbly and justly."

Regarding the public's call for her resignation, she stated firmly, "I’m not going to satisfy the whims of my detractors."

Recalling recent events, ABS-CBN reacted to MTRCB's decision to reject their request for reconsideration.
