A ton of AI features are headed to Meta for its billions of users to try out.
One of those AI is simply called Meta AI. It’s a chatbot for all Meta apps: Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram. It’s Meta’s own version of AI products that Google has been showing off for months.
The Meta AI is aimed to be an assistant, where you can ask questions and get answers. It’s Meta’s own pseudo-search engine, if you will. Also, this is based on a partnership with Microsoft’s Bing. So that’s where all the Meta AI will base its answers.
Meta AI is more than a chatbot, though. With a prompt /imagine, Meta AI will generate an image for you. Now, personally I have no idea how this will be of any use. I just don’t. But I can see how amusing it will be for people to try out and have fun with.
Going deeper into Meta AI, Meta introduced “AI characters.” These characters are based on celebrities such as Snoop Dogg and Paris Hilton. Meta will be rolling out 28 AI characters initially, and we can assume more will be released.
Along with the sweeping introduction of AI features, Meta has announced AI image editing. This one I can see having more uses, with people just enjoying using it to make incredible images of themselves.
We can’t be 100% certain if Meta has trained its Meta AI on its users’ data across all its apps (I mean, it is Meta, after all). But it won’t be surprising – even horrifying – that some features based on user data will eventually launch, such as asking Meta AI to show images or videos of certain places.
