BJMP bags gold award for 'excellent' governance performance

The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) garnered a "Gold Trailblazer Award" in the Performance Governance System (PGS) Initiation Stage as a testament of its "remarkable progress in implementing performance governance practices that align with the highest standards of excellence."

In a statement, the BJMP explained that the award was a testament to its "unwavering commitment to excellence" and dedication in public service "by ensuring a safe, just and prosperous Philippines."

The BJMP also revealed that the award was certified by the Institute for Solidarity in Asia (ISA).

Under BJMP chief Director Ruel Rivera, the bureau has taken significant strides in advancing its strategic governance initiatives as part of the J.A.I.L. PLAN 2040. 

"The PGS Initiation Stage is a critical milestone in BJMP's journey toward achieving good governance and performance excellence. It involves the development of strategic governance documents, articulation of a clear vision, mission, and core values, and the establishment of strategic directions that are geared towards improving the delivery of its services," the BJMP noted.

Rivera presented and defended the strategic governance documents, reflecting BJMP's "commitment to transparency, accountability and continuous improvement." He said the accomplishment "reinforces BJMP's position as a frontrunner in public service, setting a benchmark for other government agencies to follow."

“The Gold Trailblazer Award signifies not only the achievement of exceptional standards but also the BJMP's dedication to delivering top-tier services to the Filipino people. It reflects the organization's determination to create a safe and just society, contributing significantly to the nation's overall progress," the BJMP added.

The BJMP thanked the ISA for recognizing its efforts and accomplishments in the field of performance governance. The bureau said that the recognition "inspires the BJMP to continue its journey towards excellence with a commitment to continually improve its services and uphold the principles of good governance."

“As BJMP moves forward on its path to excellence, it remains focused on its mission to provide humane, secure, and efficient services to individuals under its care. The Gold Trailblazer Award reaffirms BJMP's dedication to this mission and its role in fostering a safer and more prosperous Philippines for all," the BJMP asserted.
