While many have been eyeing his position and sparking countless rumors since he assumed office, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said he will stay with President Marcos for as long as his services are needed.

"I will serve you for as long as I am useful to you and for as long as you need me," Bersamin said in an interview on "Tune in Kay Tunying" as he recalled what he told Marcos when he was appointed to his position a year ago.
"Beyond that, if there is either of this missing, I will step down and I will not last a minute longer, because service is my dedication to you and loyalty to you are the only things I can offer," he added.
This came as a response to the rumors claiming that he was to be replaced.
The Chief Executive revealed that there are many "applicants" eyeing for his position which, he said, was the reason why the intrigues hounding his office never end.
"Kaya yung intriga hindi matatapos 'yan dahil siguro ang daming naghahangad sa pwestong ito. I am not going to, ano ito, ipapako ko yung paa ko dito, hindi (That is why the intrigues do not end because many are eyeing this position. I am not going to nail my feet to the ground here, no)," Bersamin said.
"I have just retired from government, substantial yung aking retirement. But for as long as the president needs me, I will be around," he added.
The Palace official stressed that intrigues will persist and he will keep facing it head on.
"Intrigues are always there and I never shy away (and) I (am) never intimidated by these intrigues. Hinaharap ko 'yan ng frontal (I face that frontally)," Bersamin said.
Bersamin assumed office in September last year, replacing former executive secretary Vic Rodriguez.
Prior to his Palace post, Bersamin served as Supreme Court chief justice from 2018 to 2019 during the Duterte presidency.
