Rizal province, Antipolo City recognized as competitive city, province in PH

The Antipolo City local government and the provincial government of Rizal were cited during the 2023 Philippine Creativity and Competitiveness Summit spearheaded by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) aimed at giving due recognition to the best performing cities and provinces in the country.

The summit, which was held on Thursday, Sept. 28, uses the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) which is an annual ranking of Philippine cities and municipalities developed by the National Competitiveness Council through the Regional Competitiveness Committees (RCCs) with the assistance of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Antipolo City Mayor Jun Ynares said the city was recognized in the following categories:

TOP 1 - Top Intellectual Property Filer
TOP 2 - Infrastructure
TOP 4 - Resiliency
TOP 8 - Economic Dynamism

Antipolo City also bagged the TOP 3 Over-all Most Competitive City in the Philippines award. It had previously won the same award back in 2022.

Best province

Meanwhile, Rizal Governor Nina Ynares announced the province being recognized as the TOP 1 Most Competitive Province in the country for the 8th-straight year.

"Rizal Province is again the TOP 1 MOST COMPETITIVE Province in the Philippines for 8 consecutive years! We have already match the Boston Celtic's record in the NBA for having the most consecutive championship or title victories from 1959-1966)," Ynares said.

"Alam po natin hindi magiging posible ang pagkilalang ito kung hindi dahil sa pagtutulungan ng ating pamahalaang panlalawigan at ng iba't-ibang mga local government units dito sa Rizal. Congrats po sa ating lahat! Ang tagumpay ng pamahalaang panlalawigan ng Rizal ay tagumpay ng bawat Rizalenyo! (We all know that this feat will not be possible without the cooperation between our provincial government and other local government units here in Rizal. Congratulations to all of us! This victory of the Rizal provincial government is a victory of all Rizalenyos!)," she added.
