Rains to prevail due to LPA trough, 'habagat' --- PAGASA

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will be experienced in Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and Davao Region due to the trough of the Low Pressure Area (LPA) being monitored inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), said the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and AstronomicalServices Administration (PAGASA) on Thursday, Sept. 28.

PAGASA said the LPA, which was last observed 800 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon, may dissipate within 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the other LPA being monitored outside PAR by PAGASA was last seen 1,850 kilometers east of Southeastern Luzon.

Patrick Del Mundo added that PAGASA is not ruling out the possibility of the LPA to develop into a tropical cyclone in the next few days.

PAGASA also said that cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will still be experienced in the northern portion of Palawan due to the southwest monsoon or "habagat."

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail in Metro Manila and the rest of the country due to localized thunderstorms, PAGASA said.

The state-run weather bureau also warned against flash floods and landslides during severe thunderstorms in the high-risk areas. (Lizst Torres Abello)
