Rain showers to persist due to LPA trough, ‘habagat’ — PAGASA

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers are expected in Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, and Caraga due to the trough or extension of the Low Pressure Area (LPA) outside the country’s area of responsibility, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Thursday, Sept. 28.

PAGASA said the LPA was last spotted 2,045 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon at 3 p.m., Thursday.

Weather specialist Chenel Dominguez said the LPA may enter the PAR by weekend, adding that PAGASA is not ruling out the possibility of it developing into a tropical cyclone.

Meanwhile, the LPA inside the PAR has dissipated, said Dominguez.

Over the next 24 hours, Palawan and Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers due to southwest monsoon or "habagat."

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with possible localized thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening. (Lizst Torres Abello)
