Philippine Red Cross (PRC) on Thursday, Sept. 28, emphasized its ongoing commitment to assist the people of Albay who have been affected by the volcanic eruption.

"We are always ready to help," PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Richard "Dick" Gordon said.
"However, we are also thinking of the situation of our people who have been on the ground for over three months," he added, highlighting the dedication of PRC volunteers and personnel who have been present at the site since June 8.
"The volunteers mobilized by PRC reached an accumulative total of 2,469," PRC said in a statement.
In its latest update, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported an escalation in seismic activity around Mayon Volcano.

As of Sept. 28, the PRC has distributed 2.7 million liters of water to beneficiaries. It has also provided hygiene kits to 1,210 families, sleeping kits to 2,436 families, jerry cans to 3,436 families, and bread to 900 families.
The PRC has also established four units of communal kitchens, benefiting 612 families.
In addition, PRC provided 81,352 hot meals, conducted 1,521 sessions of psychosocial first aid for 1,521 individuals, offered child-friendly spaces for 4,016 individuals, and extended assistance to a total of 326,165 individuals during this period.
