PH logs 187 new Covid-19 cases; fatality rate steady at 1.6%
The Department of Health (DOH) recorded 187 new Covid-19 infections, bringing the total number of Covid-19 cases in the country to 4,114,286.

The latest update from DOH as of Sept. 27 reported no additional Covid-19-related fatalities, maintaining the fatality rate at 1.6 percent.
Based on the data, the country has 2,931 active Covid-19 cases.
The DOH Covid-19 Tracker also revealed 123 new recoveries, representing a 98.3 percent recovery rate, with a total of 4,044,659 people having survived the virus.
On the availability of intensive care unit (ICU) beds designated for Covid-19 patients, the DOH reported that 238 beds, or 12.1 percent, of the 1,982 available ICU beds were currently occupied.
Similarly, non-ICU Covid-19 beds were frequently utilized, with 2,874, or 15.37 percent, of the 18,698 available beds in use, while mechanical ventilators, numbering 2,101, had 118 currently in use by Covid-19 patients.
In line with this, DOH reminded the public not to be complacent about the Covid-19 threat.
The health department also highlighted that the public should continue to adhere to the minimum health standards.
The public was also urged to continue wearing well-fitting facemasks and to stay in well-ventilated areas.
Those who had symptoms, the DOH said, should be isolated immediately.
DOH also reminded the public to get their Covid-19 vaccine and booster as soon as possible for added protection. (Zekinah Elize Espina)
