Of the 6,000 animal bites, averaging about 667 cases per month, 860 cases were recorded in September.
“Medyo nakaka-worry po iyon. Lahat po ay pinag-iingat dahil dito sa ating lungsod, talaga pong nakapahirap ang pagkontrol ng pangangalaga ng aso (It’s worrying. Everyone is warned because in our city, it’s really hard to control taking care of dogs),” said Bunyi.
Bunyi raised awareness about World Rabies Day, which is being marked on Sept. 28. He said many activities will be conducted by the CHO including lectures in communities.
City Veterenarian Dr. Pamela Hernandez said, “Hindi pa nawawala ang rabies sa ating bansa. Kaya patuloy na rin po ang mga proyektong ginagawa natin upang mawala ang rabies virus (Rabies has not been eradicated in our country. That is why we continue doing projects to eradicate the rabies virus).”
