'Most Gender-Responsive' barangays cited by Pasig LGU
The Pasig City Gender and Development (GAD) Office conferred awards to the "Most Gender-Responsive Barangays" in the city during its first GAD Summit on Thursday, Sept. 28.
The GAD Technical Working Group (TWG) awarded the barangays that have successfully implemented their respective GAD programs, projects, and activities (PPAs) in support of GAD mainstreaming processes at the barangay level.

Barangay Dela Paz, under the leadership of Capt. Isidro Mariano, was awarded the champion of the category. They received P100,000 as a cash incentive for winning the top prize.

The first runner-up prize went to Barangay San Jose, under Capt. Ronwaldo Angeles; and Barangay San Antonio, under Capt. Raymond Lising, placed second runner-up.

The GAD Technical Working Group TWG) determined the barangays who have obtained the highest scores in the awards criteria. The categories include a functional Barangay GAD focal point system, policies, plans, programs, and budget; installation of strategic mechanisms; innovation, and awards and recognition.
The ceremony, held in the Tanghalang Rizal at the Rizal High School Complex, was part of Pasig's inaugural GAD Summit themed "People, Data, and Data Management: Dedicating GAD programs to People's Needs."
Pasig Mayor Vico Sott, Councilor Corazon Raymundo and other city councilors, GAD Office Officer-in-Charge Rey Espina, and GAD Training and Special Services Division Chief Salvacion Barnedo all graced the event to lend their support.
The summit included a session tackling "evidence-based gender responsive governance" by Abigail Dela Cruz, which focuses on data-driven results and outcomes mined from the establishment and maintenance of a localized GAD Database.
It emphasized the need for barangay GAD officers to conduct proper data collection, create reliable data sources and networks, and observe data quality assessments and analysis.
"Gender responsive programming" entails gender analysis, a gender-responsive budget plan with gender-sensitive indicators and sex-disaggregated data. These involve the collaboration of the office with women and girls and other members of the marginalized sectors, pursuant to the GAD Agenda.
Pasig City's GAD Agenda aims to "implement gender responsive PPAs to promote and integrate gender equality and inclusion in the city." The GAD Office seeks to do this by institutionalizing a GAD focal point system to craft and ensure compliance in these PPAs' implementations.
Aside from increasing gender-based, specialized services and information, the general agenda was established to address and resolve pervasive gender issues like responsible parenthood, maternal deaths, LGBTQ+ discrimination and violence against women and children (VAWC).
In line with the Pasig City government's overall push for data-driven governance, the GAD Office is using evidence-based systems to inform and influence its decision-making process of its PPAs.
The city government also distributed laptops to barangay GAD focal point system representatives during the event.
