Demolition in San Andres, Manila displaces 25 families
Around 25 families were displaced following the demolition of houses in Barangay 766, San Andres Bukid, Manila, on Thursday morning, Sept. 28.

Tension arose between the demolition team and the residents after the affected families claimed that the stated address in the order for the demolition was 2582 Granate Street in San Andres Bukid, but the houses that were demolished were part of 2580 Granate Street.
They said that they explained and showed some proof of billing to show 2580 as their address, but the demolition team ignored them and continued tearing down some houses.
Other residents said the team had a demolition order but no court order was presented to them.
They added that the engineering team had forced them to leave their houses to start the demolition.
They also added that the engineering team showed a paper that it was ordered by Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan but the residents said that it has not been signed by the mayor.
After destroying several houses, residents said that the demolition temporarily stopped as one of the engineers made a mistake in looking for the address.
According to a resident, authorities said to them that the demolition will continue tomorrow.
Some residents are still staying on the street with their belongings.
The city government has not yet released a statement as of this writing.
