Sometimes it’s challenging to figure out what we’re craving for when we’re out on an empty stomach. How often have we gone out with friends or family and asked what they’d like to eat only to be met with the dreaded “kahit ano” answer? Fortunately for those on the hunt for something to chow down on, Foodee Global Concepts has put up several new restaurants to try out in Quezon City’s Gateway Mall 2. Here’s a look at what you can try out when you visit Cubao on your next food run.

Chow down some buns and dumplings over at Tim Ho Wan.

Tim Ho Wan first got its start after chefs Mak Kwai Pui and Leung Fai Keung teamed up together to put up a hole-in-the-wall dim sum place in Mongkok, Hong Kong. Both chefs had previously made a name for themselves working at the three Michelin-starred Lung King Heen restaurant in Hong Kong’s Four Seasons Hotel. Through their efforts, after a year Tim Ho Wan would earn its own Michelin star.

DUMPLINGS GALORE Tim Ho Wan’s hakaw (prawn dumplings)

Perhaps one of their best-selling treats is their BBQ pork buns. Each bun is soft to the touch and has a filling that practically melts in your mouth upon biting it. Tim Ho Wan’s special sauce acts as the highlight of the bun, adding a burst of flavor to the sweet and flavorful bun. We also recommend trying out their hakaw (prawn dumplings).

Satisfy your chicken cravings at Hawker Chan.

ALWAYS FRESH, NEVER FROZEN The secret to Hawker Chan’s quality chicken is that it is always freshly slaughtered and never frozen

Chan Hon Meng’s Hawker Chan restaurant has become a mainstay for chicken fans after its Soya Sauce Chicken meal was given the title of being the world’s cheapest Michelin-star meal back in 2016. Despite the star status being removed some time ago, Hawker Chan’s Soya Sauce Chicken meal is still a quality dish. Its secret to staying on top is that the dish only uses freshly slaughtered chicken that is never frozen before being poached in the master broth from Singapore. Aside from the Soya Sauce Chicken, we recommend trying out their Peanut Buchi. It’s a soft little treat that bursts in your mouth with flavors, perfect for wrapping up each meal.

Try the spicy wings challenge from Pound.

CAN YOU HANDLE THE HEAT? Aside from its luxury burgers, Pound’s chicken wings have become their best-selling item on the menu

Spice lovers, are you ready to put your spice tolerance to the test? For those who have seen the popular Hot Ones YouTube channel, Pound has come up with their own version of the spicy wings challenge. In collaboration with the Philippine Hot Sauce Club, Pound’s 11th branch in Gateway Mall 2 offers six of the country’s spiciest hot sauces to go along with your wings. Do you think you’ll have what it takes to reach level six? Aside from wings, Pound got its start serving quality burgers. We recommend pairing your burger of choice with the Pound Poutine, a mix of crisp french fries mixed with peppercorn gravy, mozzarella cheese, ground beef, and caramelized onions.
