2 to 3 cyclones may enter or form within PAR in October — PAGASA

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the country may have two to three tropical cyclones next month.
In its climate outlook forum on Wednesday, Sept. 27, PAGASA-Climatology and Agrometeorology Division (CAD) Senior Weather Specialist Remedios Ciervo said there are four common cyclone tracks in October: recurving toward the northeastern portion of the Philippine area of responsibility or PAR, or toward Japan or Korea (non-landfalling); landfalling cyclone that may cross the Northern or Central Luzon, Central or Southern Luzon toward Vietnam, or Visayas toward Vietnam.
The local names of the next tropical cyclones will be Jenny, Kabayan, and Liwayway.
So far, nine tropical cyclones have entered the PAR this year, namely Amang, Betty, Chedeng, Dodong, Egay, Falcon, Goring, and Hanna, and Ineng.
PAGASA said four to seven tropical cyclones may still enter or form within the country’s area of responsibility until the end of the year. (Lizst Torres Abello)
