Telecom, meteorological towers robbed


CAMP VICENTE LIM, Canlubang, Laguna – A telecommunications and meteorological tower were robbed in Quezon and Laguna.

The Police Regional Office 4-A said the telecommunications tower in Barangay Ibabang Kinagunan, Agdangan, Quezon, lost 28 rectifier batteries valued at P616,000.

The incident was reported to the police by Sherben Acusta, Maga Matrix security operations manager.

Acusta said the robbery may have taken place on September 25 and it was discovered the following day.

Suspects destroyed the padlock of the cabin to gain entry.

Stolen from the  meteorological mast tower in New Little Baguio, Barangay Cueva, Santa Maria, Laguna was copper grounding cable with an estimated length of 125 meters and valued at P150,000.

Police said suspects gained entry by destroying the padlock of the perimeter fence and the robbery took place between September 19 to 21.

A police tracker team has been dispatched to recover the stolen item.

A follow-up investigation is being conducted and surveillance footages are being reviewed for identification of the suspects.

A meteorological mast tower is a free-standing tower that carries measuring instruments such as thermometers and instruments to measure wind speed.
