President Marcos has called on the academe to be at the forefront of the country's innovation as the government launched its 10-year innovation agenda.

Recognizing that the academe plays a crucial role as an "incubator of talent and skills" among the youth, Marcos sought its participation in carrying out the country's goal to create a "culture of innovation."
"We also call on the academe to be at the forefront of innovation. We recognize your role as incubators of talent, of skills, and ideas that will shape the future," he said as he led the launching of the National Innovation Agenda Strategy Document (NIASD), a document that outlines the country's 10-year vision and long-term goals for innovation, on Wednesday, Sept. 27.
"Continue to develop the minds and the sensibilities of our youth so that we can set them up for success and harness their talents for national development," he added.
He stressed that the government shall reform the education curriculum design and learning platforms to develop the creativity, curiosity, problem-solving skills, and entrepreneurial abilities of Filipinos for the 21st century.
The President assured the academe that the government will remain supportive of their endeavors, saying that the government, both at the national and local levels, "remains steadfast in its commitment to nurturing innovation and sustainable development."
According to Marcos, the NIASD will serve as the blueprint that will accelerate the country’s innovation governance as well as promote a culture of innovation among scientists, researchers, entrepreneurs, engineers, and of course citizens.
He said it is a commitment to make innovation an "indispensable component" of the nation's development agenda and a key driver in the vision to achieve a truly smart and innovative Philippines.
He also noted that collaboration remains the most effective tool for achieving holistic and positive development, thus he encouraged the academe to be at the forefront of innovation.
