A man in possession of an improvised handgun (sumpak) was arrested by members of the Pasay police substation 5 in Baclaran early Wednesday morning, Sept. 27.
Pasay City police chief Col. Froilan Uy said the suspect, identified as Danilo Tatac, alias “Daboy,” was arrested at around
4:00 a.m. along Mahogany St., Barangay 145, Zone 16, Sto. Nino, Pasay City.
Uy said members of Substation 5 in Baclaran immediately responded to the call of a concerned citizen claiming that Tatac, who was armed with a handgun, was creating disturbance in the community.
Responding operatives of Substation 5 were able to confiscate from Tatac one improvised handgun (sumpak) and two live ammunition of a .38 caliber revolver.
The city police chief said Tatac was immediately brought to the police custodial facility and was charged for violation of R.A. 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunitions Regulations Act, in relation to R.A. 7166 or the Omnibus Election Code.
Uy said the arrest of Tatac sends a strong message that the Pasay City police station will not tolerate crimes related to firearms and election laws, as well as disturbing peace and order in the community.
He also urged citizens to report immediately any suspicious and illegal activity in their areas.
