Farmer hacked dead in Isabela


CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela – A farmer was hacked to death by a fellow farmer in Barangay Nilumisu, Echage, Isabela on Monday, September 25.

Police identified the victim as Ronie Ganab, 50, from Barangay San Vicente, Jones, Isabela.

Initial investigation said the victim was drinking coffee outside a makeshift warehouse or “kamalig” with friend Jhonny Mangantulao when the suspect, Fernando Garcia, 59, a resident of Barangay San Carlos, Echague, Isabela, attacked him with a bolo.

Police said Garcia hacked the victim on the face and neck and died on the spot.

Mangantulao sought assistance from residents. 

The suspect fled but surrendered to the chairman of Barangay San Carlos.

Garcia is under police custody. A follow-up probe on the incident is ongoing.
