ILOILO CITY – Antique Gov. Rhodora “Dodod” Cadiao said politics is behind the 90-day preventive suspension imposed by the Sandiganbayan against her for allegedly violating the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.
“My political detractors have concentrated their efforts and even resorted to sub rosa maneuvers to see me suspended, to their delight,” said Cadiao in a statement in her Facebook page.
Since the September 21, 2023 resolution was made public by the Sandiganbayan Seventh Division, Cadiao has not answered any queries made by Manila Bulletin.
“My suspension by the Sandiganbayan is your handiwork, but it only reminds me of the story of the crucifixion of the Christ Jesus,” said Cadiao.
The lady governor did not directly name her political detractors.
The Sandiganbayan case stemmed from the complaint of Antonio dela Vega who was then chief of the Antique Provincial General Services Office.
In the initial complaint filed before the Office of the Ombudsman, Dela Vega accused Cadiao of refusing to release P1.6 million to him as part of his representation and transportation allowances (RATA) and other benefits for 2016 to 2018.
Despite the suspension, Cadiao expressed commitment as a servant-leader for the people of Antique.
“During my suspension the governance of the province will be in good and able hands and I will continue to work with you in my non-official capacity to make Antique a better place to live in,” Cadiao added.
