171 bets for village chairman unopposed in Ilocos Sur

VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said 171 candidates for barangay chairman are running unopposed in the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections in this  province on October 30.

The Comelec also said 174 aspirants for SK chairman in Ilocos Sur are also unopposed.

Ericson Oganiza, provincial election supervisor, said 22,000 individuals filed Certificates of Candidacy for the elections in in this province.

The Comelec said there are about 491,000 registered voters in the BSKE from 1,647 precincts in 768 barangays in 32 towns and two cities in this province.

Oganiza expects a generally peaceful elections in this province due to the large number of candidates running unopposed.

Meanwhile, Barangay San Isidro, Candon City, Ilocos Sur Chairman John Paul Singson, ex-officio member of the Candon City Council, is running for reelection and unopposed.
