Construction worker arrested for stabbing co-worker inside PUP campus
A construction worker was arrested after stabbing his co-worker inside their sleeping quarters at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) in Sta. Mesa, Manila on Monday, Sept. 25.
The Manila Police District (MPD) identified the suspect as Albert, Solayao, 31, a construction worker at the main building of PUP.
Police said the victims, Jason Flores, 26, and Rominic Abayon, 25, are also construction workers at the said university.
Based on the investigation, the construction workers were having a drinking spree inside their sleeping quarters when the suspect suddenly challenged the victims to a fistfight.
Flores immediately went outside to avoid trouble, but the suspect followed him and punched him on his left cheek.
The suspect also picked up a trowel and hit him on the left portion of his face.
The other victim tried to help Flores, but the suspect drew a kitchen knife and stabbed him in different parts of his body.
Other construction workers sought assistance from the security guard on duty.
The suspect was brought to Ospital ng Sampaloc for physical examination and was later brought to MPD Sta. Mesa Station for investigation.
