256 individuals donate blood in Bucalan bloodletting activity
At least 256 individuals from different sectors participated in a bloodletting activity spearheaded by the Office of the Municipal Health of Santa Maria, Bulacan on Monday, Sept. 25.
Bayanihan spirit was certainly revived among Santa Maria residents as more than a hundred blood bags were filled by community members during the activity.
The event themed "Dugo mula sa Puso ng Sambayanang Magkakadugo" was done in partnership with Bulacan Blood Council and the local government.

The volunteers went through a series of tests including physical checkups, blood typing, malaria and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) tests before they donated blood.
The activity was inaugurated by Sta. Maria Mayor Bartolome "Omeng" Ramos, together with Vice Mayor Eboy Juan and Dra. Ma. Consuelo G. Feliciano, municipal health officer.
Mayor Ramos said the event is a proof of real compassion and cooperation of the united Santa Maria community.
After filling the blood bags, each donor was given a certificate that guaranteed them and their relatives as priority blood recipients in case they need a blood transfusion.
Aside from strengthening the blood supply, the life-saving project likewise benefited donors by getting free executive and medical checkups during the screening.
