2 NPA amazons surrender in Laguna

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Two New People’s Army amazons surrendered in Sitio Kabute, Barangay Real, Calamba City, this province, on Monday, September 25.

The 402nd A Maneuver Company Regional Mobile Force Battalion 4-A identified the surrenderers as alias “Iska,” 25, from Calamba City, Laguna, and “Vella,” 29, of Santa Rosa City, this province, both Non-Periodic Status Report Listed (NPSRL).

Iska is a member of Samahan ng Maralita sa Sitio Kabute (SMSK-Bayan) who had participated in many rallies in the first and second districts of Laguna.

On the other hand, Vella was recruited by Mark Adrian and joined several rallies in Laguna. An identified member of Gabriela, she served the quick response team (QRT) in Tagkawayan, Quezon; Palawan, and Region 4-B (Mimaropa or the Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan area).

Police said the surrenderers expressed cooperation and willingness to support the government in ending the local communist armed conflict.

They were given initial assistance under the ELCAC.
