Widow, grandson die in Borongan City fire

TACLOBAN CITY – An 83-year-old widow and her grandson died in a fire that razed their house on Sunday, September 24, in Barangay Tamoso, Borongan City, Eastern Samar.

The victims were identified as Lourdes Abobo and Lloyd Alec Legion, 25.

Initial investigation disclosed that the fire that broke out at around 3:15 a.m. was caused by overheated appliances.

The fire was declared under control after over an hour at about 4:30 a.m.

Victims were almost unrecognizable when they were found by firefighters in mopping-up operation. 

Damage to property was estimated at P700,000.
