TACLOBAN CITY – A barangay chairman survived an ambush on Sunday, September 24, in Barangay Poblacion, Leyte, Leyte.
Police identified the victim as Edgar dela Rosa, 52, chairman of Barangay Baco, Leyte, Leyte.
Initial investigation disclosed that the victim was driving his pickup truck on his way home to Barangay Poblacion from Barangay Baco when, upon reaching Mabini St., gunmen – driver clad in a black jacket and red helmet and back rider wearing a black T-shirt and a cap – fired at the driver's side several times.
The victim was able to duck and was unharmed except for some scratches on his left underarm and shoulder.
The suspects fled toward Barangay Sambulawan and the victim reported the incident to the police.
Ten empty 9mm shells were found at the scene.
