The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has reported that aircraft pilots and their comrades-in-arms are reaping the rewards of their skills, as they prove to be masters not only of the skies but also of their bank accounts.

In the PSA's 2022 Occupational Wages Survey, aircraft pilots and associate professionals took the lead, earning an average monthly wage of ₱135,363.
To put that into perspective, it is twice as much as the highest-paying jobs in 2020, which were held by mathematicians, actuaries, and statisticians, who earned ₱63,368.
They were followed by software developers working in information service activities who received an average wage rate of ₱70,595 per month.
The remaining three highest-paying occupations include mathematicians and actuaries at ₱69,654, production managers and general foremen at ₱63,017, and applications programmers at ₱58,643.
Completing the top 10 are specialist medical practitioners at ₱57,476; statisticians at ₱51,607; medical doctors or generalist medical practitioners at
₱51,251; geologists at ₱49,059; and accountants at ₱48,982.
The PSA also said the overall average monthly wage rate of time-rated workers on a full-time basis across 193 monitored occupations in 72 selected industries was ₱18,423 in 2022, up by 11.7 percent from the average monthly wage rate in 2020.
It also increased by 1.7 percent compared to their average monthly wage rate in 2018 which was at ₱18,108.
The median basic pay of time-rated workers on full-time basis across all industries also increased to ₱14,588 per month in 2022, higher by 6.9 percent compared to the ₱13,646 median basic pay recorded in 2020.
The OWS covered 16,057 formal establishments that have at least 20 workers nationwide, of which wage rates of monitored occupations across selected industries were collected.
