Parent firm confirms negotiation with potential buyers for foodpanda SEA business

Delivery Hero, the Berlin-based parent company of foodpanda, confirms negotiations with several parties regarding a potential sale of its foodpanda business in selected Southeast Asia markets.

An official statement on Monday, Sept. 25, stated that any discussions or plans are in their preliminary stages.

There have been speculations as to the operations of the online food and grocery delivery platform in the Philippines following a CNBC report that foodpanda is dealing with layoffs as the company tries to become “more efficient and even more agile.”

One of the options the company is looking at to stay afloat is through a partial sale of foodpanda Southeast Asia food delivery business. Grab, an online food delivery and ride-hailing platform, was reported as one of the potential buyers of foodpanda’s Southeast Asia business.
