Caloocan City residents to get free medical services
Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan on Sunday, Sept. 24, encouraged the city residents to avail of free medical services offered by the city government as part of its celebration of the 58th anniversary of Caloocan City Medical Center (CCMC).
“Sa ating mga mamamayan, sulitin po natin ang pagkakataong ito. Maraming salamat CCMC sa patuloy na pagbibigay prayoridad sa kalusugan ng ating mga kababayan at sa pagdiriwang ng inyong anibersaryo sa makabuluhang pamamaraan (To our citizens, let's make the most of this opportunity. Thank you CCMC for continuing to prioritize the health of our fellow residents and for celebrating your anniversary in a meaningful way),” the mayor said.
Different CCMC departments will conduct various activities in the hospital on A. Mabini St. in Poblacion, Caloocan City - South until Thursday, Sept. 28 (from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.).
The CCMC’s Department of Family and Community and Medicine already started the activities on Monday, Sept. 25., with a lay forum for Rabies Awareness Month.
The CCMC also offered free tooth extraction for 50 patients on the same day.
On Tuesday, Sept. 26, the CCMC Department of OB-GYN (obstetrics and gynecology) will conduct free pap smears (30 patients), free breast examination (early cancer detection - 30 patients), and pelvic ultrasound to 20 pregnant women (20 weeks and above).
The Department of Radiology and Imaging Studies will also provide free chest x-ray for 50 patients.
Residents may also avail of free cataract screening and get reading eyeglasses from the CCMC Opthalmology Service on Wednesday, Sept. 27. A blood donation program will be conducted by the hospital’s laboratory department.
The hospital will also offer free ear examination and hearing tests for residents from 1 p.m to 3 p.m. on the same day.
On Thursday, Sept. 28, , the CCMC Department of Internal Medicine will conduct free fasting blood sugar, cholesterol, and uric acid tests, electrocardiogram (ECG), and ankle branchial index tests (8 a.m. to 12 p.m.). Free dermatology consultations and medicines will also be provided (1 p.m. to 3 p.m.) to residents.
Meanwhile, the CCMC Department of Surgery will also provide free minor surgeries and digital rectal examination/prostate screening from 8 a.m to 12 p.m. on Friday.
The CCMC started its operation on Sept. 29 1965, the city government said.
