As the government celebrates the 60th Fish Conservation Week, Magno affirmed his commitment to give more time for the DA, ensuring a dedicated effort to explore ways his office can provide substantial assistance, particularly in food security initiatives.

Magno said that his office is keen on focusing more on the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources’ (BFAR) endeavors to conserve fish in the Davao region.

He added that the government is giving importance to fish conservation for food security.

“Mahalagang magtulungan tayo dahil iisa ang direksyon na gusto nating lahat, na sana maalagaan ang ating karagatan para hindi maubos ang mga pagkain galing dito (We must collaborate because we all share the same goal: To take care of our oceans to ensure a sustainable food supply from them),” Magno said.

This year’s Fish Conservation Week theme is “Masaganang Pangisdaan, Maunlad na Ekonomiya,” aligned with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. 's advocacy for protection and conservation of the country’s natural assets to attain food security and sustainability.

Magno said the primary goal of the yearly Fish Conservation Week is to impart the idea that even a small action can transform into a lasting commitment to promoting sustainable fisheries and preserving a thriving environment.

During the celebration, various individuals, organizations, and local government units (LGUs) received recognition for their contributions to safeguarding and conserving marine resources.

Among those honored were the Mati City Government and artist Kublai Millan.
