The five-minute daily program known as “High 5 Boracay” on the stretch of the white sand beach at the country’s most popular each destination is the pet project of an alliance formed as Boracay positions itself as Asia’s next big destination for meetings, incentives, conventions, conferences, exhibitions, and events or MICE.
The song “Isla Boracay” composed by Daniel Fernandez of Palawan which won in a song-writing competition was played to perk up participants.
The Boracay MICE Alliance is backed by the Department of Tourism-Western Visayas led by Director Crisanta Marlene Rodriguez.
It November 2021, the DOT-Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) gathered industry stakeholders for the MICE Buyers Invitational Program that looked into how the country’s most famous beach destination can be a major MICE player in Asia.
The country’s MICE industry leaders want to boost Boracay’s capability to host incentive travel and small- to medium- size conferences in the future.
