The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Monday, Sept. 25 issued a warning regarding the use and purchase of “unauthorized” cosmetic products that have not undergone a thorough review.

It listed nine cosmetic products as “not safe for use” in an advisory on Monday.

These are “Mokeer Lip Glaze Time Velvet Lip Glaze #04,” “Ultra Whitening Lotion Bar Soap Niacinamide with Ceramide + Collagen and Glutathione,” “Bioten Skin Glow Brightening Day Cream,” “Eccsece Dense 300% Waterproof Eyeliner,” “Ys Luxessentials Toner Snail Mucin Filtrate Vitamin B,” “Watsons Double Ha Intensive Moisturising Ha Mask,” “Ys Luxessentials Be Ceuticals Derm Sunscreen + Niacinamide Spf 40,” “Ys Luxessentials Snail Secretion Filtrate Foam,” and “Ys Luxessentials Brightening Skin Serum.”

The FDA’s post-marketing surveillance revealed that these cosmetic products do not have a valid Certificate of Product Notification (CPN) as of Sept. 6.

The agency cannot vouch for the quality or safety of these unauthorized cosmetic products because they have not gone through the FDA’s notification process, it said.

It also noted that the use of such non-compliant products may pose serious health risks to consumers.

These potential hazards could result from the inclusion of prohibited ingredients in cosmetic products or from heavy metal contamination.

The FDA emphasized that using substandard and potentially contaminated cosmetic products could result in severe reactions such as skin irritation, itchiness, anaphylactic shock, and even organ failure.

Given these findings, the public is strongly advised not to purchase the aforementioned unauthorized cosmetic products.

The FDA has also issued a directive to all concerned establishments, advising them not to distribute these cosmetic products until they have fully complied with FDA rules and regulations. (Zekinah Elize Espina)
