GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Police are eyeing land conflict as a possible motive in the murder of a Marine reservist by motorcycle-riding gunmen in Barangay Sinawal, this city, on Friday, September 22.
Police Major Carl Jayson Baynosa, Police Station 2 commander, said they are looking at a land dispute as the reason for the killing of Leonard Lara, 52, a member of the 92nd Marine Battalion based here.
Lara was shot dead while driving a car and he sustained multiple bullet wounds in the body from a .45 caliber pistol while his wife sustained a bullet wound in the arm.
Police have established the identities of the suspects based on the testimonies of the victim’s wife.
Lara was the second military reservist who was summarily killed here in a span of one month.
Danilo Alferez, an Army reservist assigned to the Joint Task Force Gensan, was killed by motorcycle-riding gunmen while driving a motorcycle in Barangay Sinawal on August 22.
