Irrigation in Bago City yields body of infant

BACOLOD CITY – The decomposing body of a newborn baby girl was found floating in an irrigation in Barangay Napoles, Bago City, Negros Occidental on Friday, September 22.

Police Capt. Hancel Lumandaz, deputy chief of the Bago City Police Station, said that a resident found the infant who was believed to have been swept away from an upland barangay to the irrigation.

Lumandaz said the city government decided to bury the infant in a public cemetery in Barangay Ma-ao on Saturday, September 23, since nobody surfaced to claim her remains, despite posting the incident on social media.

He said that it will be difficult for them to identify or locate the parents of the infant.
